Tell us about your family and pets?
My wife Madeline is a dentist practicing in Princeton, MN. Together we have two busy girls ages 4 and 2. Our oldest is just finishing her first year of preschool and our youngest is doing everything she can to keep up with big sister. We also have two old men dogs who enjoy nothing more than lazy days being pet and sitting in the sun.

Why do you choose to be a member of the Minnesota Optometric Association?
I choose to be a member to support the progression and growth of our profession here in Minnesota.

What do you like best about the profession of optometry?
We truly see all ages within our profession and with that comes so much diversity day to day. There is constantly something new being developed and keeping up with changes is a great way to stay engaged.

Describe your favorite memory from your optometric career.
I'll never forget my first patient on my first day of my residency. He was a corneal transplant patient with a central ulcer and I of course felt quite intimidated treating it, and when I left the exam room to seek some advice from another doctor the only person available was Richard Lindstrom who I was also quite intimidated to ask for help. He was wonderful and as many can imagine totally relaxed about treating the patient. I'll never forget that.

What fun fact would you like to share about yourselves that your colleagues may not know about you?
My wife and I participate in adult league downhill ski racing at Buck Hill every winter. It's a great way to help get through our winters and we look forward to it every year. Both of our girls have already been on skis and we can't wait for them to join us!
