Uptown Eye Care and Omni Vision & Learning Center both located in Monticello.

Where are you from originally?
Hutchinson

What school did you graduate from (undergraduate and optometry)?
Southwest Minnesota State and University of Missouri- St Louis

What are your hobbies?
I love reading, traveling and spending time with my family in northern Minnesota.

Describe your local community involvement?
I have been involved for years on the Wright County Community Action Committee (Head Start), CentraCare Monticello Hospital Operating Committee, and with various church and community events.

Tell us about your family and pets?
I have the most wonderful family which includes my husband Dan of 25 years, and my two college aged children Aaron and Megan. My newest baby is my empty nesting fur baby named Josie. She keeps me company and allows me to mother her, which means she is very spoiled.

Why do you choose to be a member of the Minnesota Optometric Association?
I have been an active part of the MOA and AOA from optometry school through today. I feel it is important that we work together as a team to accomplish all we can to protect our profession and our patients. As a bonus, we get to work together to be the best optometrists we can be as well. The friends I have made through these associations have been amazing and include doctors across the US.

What do you like best about the profession of optometry?
I love that I can personally listen to, provide options and care for my patients like friends. I feel God has given me the ability to care for his people and I get to do that every day which is a huge Blessing to me.

Describe your favorite memory from your optometric career.
Well, there might have been an instance working at the VA in Kansas City involving a chair leaning so far back that a very gracious vet began sliding out upside down...

What fun fact would you like to share about yourselves that your colleagues may not know about you?
I spent the summer waiting for my Minnesota licensure to come through up north re-roofing a few houses and trapping leeches and minnows for a friends bait business. If my patient's could only see me then.
