Spending time with my family and friends, golfing, fishing and traveling.
What leads you to continue serving your community as an optometrist?
I love what I do and all of the relationships I've formed. I am fortunate to be able to provide eyecare in a community with a lot of wonderful people and be an employer to an awesome group of individuals.
If you weren't an optometrist, what would you be?
Well, I know I wouldn't be as awesome, that's for sure. I would probably be a chef. I have always enjoyed cooking and being creative in the kitchen.
What drives you to continue your membership with the Minnesota Optometric Association?
Our association is the heart and soul of our profession. Its values of advocacy, education, inspiration, opportunity and unity are never ending. It keeps us and our profession moving forward to better serve our patients, our families and ourselves. Being a member is not just my commitment to optometry but to all of my fellow ODs.
What cause means the most to you right now? Does not have to be optometry related, but can be.
Currently, anything NICU related. Getting to bring home a happy and healthy daughter after spending 115 days in the NICU has brought a whole new level of appreciation for the care team in that health field, in particular to those up at North Memorial in Maple Grove. We can't express our gratitude enough, so anything we can do and/or give back to help support others that may have to spend time in the NICU is our way of giving thanks and support.
What fun fact would you like to share about yourself?
In high school, I sometimes performed the Star-Spangled Banner on solo trumpet before sporting events.
