Check out the AOSA, empowering students to thrive as doctors of optometry. The AOSA is led by optometry students for optometry students, representing more than 7,100 students attending the 26 schools and colleges of optometry throughout the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. The AOSA works to ensure optometry students gain the knowledge needed to thrive in this great profession.​


Getting Started
Discover the first steps to becoming a doctor of optometry. Studying optometry leads to a multitude of professional paths, but it all begins with coursework. With the help of the AOA, students are supported as they develop an academic timeline, manage classes, take on the national board exams and find optometric residency programs.

The State Board's mission is to protect the public through effective licensure and enforcement of the statutes and rules governing the practice of optometry to ensure a standard of competent and ethical practice.

Join us for an upcoming MOA event. We have two major events each year, our Annual Meeting and our Fall Meeting. These continuing education opportunities are also an excellent time to connect with other optometrists, or join us at a social event to get more involved!

A note on dues: One of the immediate perks of joining during or directly following graduation means that you start by paying nothing to be a full-fledged member! The first and second years of your membership you only pay 10% and 20% of full dues, respectively. The dues schedule ladders up so you're only paying full dues by the time you're five years out of school, but you're receiving full member benefits the whole time!
