Use the latest technology including anterior and posterior segment cameras including Oculus M5 (with dry eye suite) and Optomap, corneal topographer, Optovue OCT, pachymeter, iCare, Octopus Visual Field Instrument, iProX IPL, J&J LipiView & LipiFlow to allow you to diagnose, treat, monitor and manage most medical eye conditions.
Work with a wide selection and availability of contacts (including sclearl, ortho-keratology, hybrid and myopia control) and optical correction options as well as the best in dry eye fighting products and services. University of Minnesota Physicians seeks a full time Optometrist who will provide comprehensive eye care and glaucoma consultations as part of the University of Minnesota’s Department of Ophthalmology. Department practice sites are located on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities medical campus, as well as several community-based satellite clinics. The successful applicant will hold the status of adjunct assistant professor within the University of Minnesota Medical School.
Practice Details:
- Provide co-management of postoperative glaucoma patients in concert with glaucoma surgeons
- Provide comprehensive optometric care as part of a multi sub-specialty ophthalmology clinic
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing ocular disease and refractive error, prescribe corrective lenses and provide treatment including therapeutic drugs
- Provide consultations regarding glaucoma disorders or concerns
- Participate in educational activities including work with optometry and medical students, ophthalmology residents, lecturing at department events, and possible research collaborations
- Practice site on University of Minnesota campus, as well as community-based satellite clinics
- Fully integrated Electronic Medical Record (EPIC)
- Support staff including ophthalmic assistants and technicians
- Full array of imaging tools including: OCT, visual field, topography, autorefractor, ERG, anterior segment and fundus photography, B-scan
- No weekend or overnight call coverage is required
Qualifications:
- A qualified candidate will be a graduate of a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree program
- Candidate must be licensed or have the ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Optometry licensure
- DPA/TPA Certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Residency in ocular disease or 5 years+ experience in OD/MD practice setting
- Experience with glaucoma care
- Experience in urgent eye care
